Six men were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging six cars in Apapa.
The men are Onaolapo Faruk (18), Abdulaslam Adetoro (18), Kudus Olawale (25), Yakubu Abidoye (43), Chuks Bannah (35) and Fabian Akachukwu (18). They are facing a five-count charge bothering on conspiracy, malicious damage, breach of peace, stealing and causing riot.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 20, 2018 at about 10pm in Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to maliciously damage Sienna Car, Toyota Pravia Car, Honda Accord Car and Volvo Car that were parked in custody of one Yasiu Amusa for repairs,” Aigbokhan said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace in the community.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 350, 52,280(a) and 45(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till August 27, 2018 for mention.
