Six men were on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N4.2 million flour at Honeywell Flour Mills, Tincan Island Port, Apapa.
The six men are Sule Innocent (50), Nwokwo John (36), Christopher Abulele (38), Musa Hammed Yusuf (33), Nsima Okon (43) and Ganiyu Aremu (44). They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and forging gate pass.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaiye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between hours of 9pm on November 4, 2019 and 2am on November 5, 2019 at Honeywell Flour Mills, Tincan Island Port.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal 300 bags of 50kg of superfine flour valued at N4.2 million.
“They also forged gate pass slips and gained access into Honeywell Flour Mills,” Tedunjaiye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 412, 280 (1a, 2a & b) and 365 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate F.J Adefioye granted them N200,000 bail with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till December 11, 2019 for mention.
