Truck driver docked for theft

India arrests Nigerian, four others with 120g of drug

 

A truck driver, Chinedu Anthony, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Iveco truck and a 40-foot empty container in Apapa. 

Anthony is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. 

The prosecutor, SP Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in the month of September 2019 at Tex Olawale Street, Olodi-Apapa. 

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Iveco truck with registration number MUS 494 XX valued at N9 million and one 40-ft empty container number CAIU7246533 valued at N1.9 million property of one James Imafidon,” Ekundayo said. 

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. 

Magistrate Ramotalai Morafa granted him N250,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. 

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government. 

She adjourned the case till November 28, 2019 for mention.
