Two suspected cultists were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a truck driver along Ojo Road, Ajegunle.
The duo, Tunde Salau (28) and Uchenna Stanley (43), is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on December 28, 2019 at about 10:30pm at Club Six located along Ojo Road, Ajegunle.
“The defendants conspired together to assault one Savionor Ikekwu by stabbing him with a broken bottle on his face and head which caused him bodily harm,” Ekpe said.
The prosecutor said the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Adegboyega Popoola granted the two accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till January 7, 2020 for mention.
