Police arraign man possession of dangerous weapons

The police on Tuesday arraigned a 24-year-old man, Sodiq Abdullahi, before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly having in his possession dangerous weapons on Christmas Day in Lagos.

Abdullahi is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy attempt to commit felony and possession of dangerous weapons. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 25, 2019 at about 12pm at Plot 2187, Ausbelt Ajagu Street, Lilly Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to commit felony by criminally and unlawfully gained access into the aforesaid compound through the fence.

“He entered into the residence of one Kosiso Ezeanwe at aforesaid address and had in his possession one kitchen knife and one hawk saw with intent to commit felony,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 21, 308 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei ordered the defendant to be in prison custody until January 22, 2020 for trial.
