A 19-year-old teenager, Onyedikachi Iheasi, was arraigned before an Apapa Magstrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.3 million in Lagos.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 5, 2019 at about 12pm at Plot E, 1st Avenue Nymph Plaza, Festac Town, Lagos.
“The defendant stole the sum of N1.3 million, property of one Nymph Suit,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
However, the defence counsel, A.C Amogu, told the court that based on her findings, the alleged stolen amount was N130,000 and not N1.3 million as written in the charge.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate F.J Adefioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with three responsible sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a pastor.
He adjourned the matter till January 8, 2020 for mention.
