A 23-year-old clearing agent, Abosede Owonibi, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N400,000 from an exporter in Apapa.
Owonibi is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 4, 2019 at about 10am at Alaba Oro, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal the sum of N400,000 property of one Benita Afolabi,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against her.
Magistrate B.M Amore granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The sureties must be residents of Lagos State.
He adjourned the case till February 6, 2019 for mention.
