The Chief Executive Officer, Total Exploration & Production, Patrick Pouyanne, said on Monday that the French energy group will proceed with the Ikike oilfield project soon.
The Ikike oilfield is located in the OML 99 license offshore Nigeria, with Total being the operator with a 40 percent stake.
“There is a huge potential in Nigeria, it is probably the most prolific country in West Africa in terms of oil and gas and it is time to launch new projects and we are working on many of them,” he told journalists.
Pouyanne was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting of Nigerian and French businesses in Paris.
Earlier this month, Total started production at the Egina oilfield off the coast of Nigeria.
