A 45-year-old truck driver, Kalu John, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly absconding with N30,000 to load goods for one Christopher Maduka.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbonna told the court that the accused committed the offence on October 26, 2017 at about 6pm at Tin-Can Island.
Ogbonna said the accused obtained N30,000 from Maduka under the pretence of using same to load to his container from Tin-Can Island Port.
The prosecutor added that the accused stole two triangle tyres valued N180,000 and 50 litres of diesel valued N12,000 property of Christopher Maduka.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 314(1) and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all the three-count charge preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till November 29, 2017 for mention.
