Truck driver docked for stealing jack, N70,000 cash

A 28-year-old truck driver, Chimezie Dickson Adiele, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a jack and the sum of N70,000 in Apapa.

Adiele is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Usman Sanni, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 30, 2019 at about 4pm at Okoduwa Street, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.

“The defendant stole the sum of N70,000 and also a truck jack valued at N15,000, both properties of one Maduadiche Innocent,” Sanni said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate L.O Kazeem granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.

The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till May 20, 2019 for mention.
