A truck driver, identified as Jacob Sule was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly driving carelessly along Oshodi/Apapa Expressway.
Sule is facing a four-count charge bothering on obstruction, reckless driving, careless driving and driving without driver’s licence.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 3, 2018 at about 8:50am along Oshodi/Apapa Expressway.
“The defendant being the driver in charge of one Mack Truck with registration number FST 381 XE drove same on the Public Highway and caused obstruction to other road users,” Bassey said.
The prosecutor added that the defendant drove the same truck in a reckless, dangerous, careless and inconsiderate manner.
Bassey also said that the defendant failed to produce driver’s licence.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 40(3), 18, 19 and 7(1) of Road Traffic Laws 2012.
The defendant however pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Magistrate A.S Okubule granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety. The surety must be a blood relation to the defendant and also furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till July 17, 2018 for mention.
