Driver steals N12m Mack truck

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port
A 35-year-old truck driver, Moruf Adediran was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one Mack Truck in Lagos.

Adediran is facing a two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 15, 2018 at about 11:50am at Babangida Road, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired together with four others at large to steal one Mack Truck with registration number APP 84 XD valued at N12 million property of one Range Investment Nigeria Limited,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

One of the sureties according to the Magistrate must be a blood relation to the defendant. One of the sureties must be a property owner in Lagos State. They must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till September 6, 2018 for mention.
