Truck driver docked for traffic offence in Apapa

A 21-year-old truck driver, identified as Abuchi Anusionwu was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly committing traffic offence in Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 12, 2018 at about 4pm along Baale Road, Nosamu Junction, Apapa.

Inedu said the defendant, being the driver of one Mack Truck with registration number FST 974 XR drove same on the public highway in a manner dangerous to other road users.

The prosecutor added that the dangerous driving by the truck driver caused damage to one Mitsubushi Canter Bus with registration number XV 746 KSF whose value is yet unknown.

According to him, the offence contravened Sections 28 and 18 of the Road Traffic Act, Cap 124, Vol. 6, Laws of Lagos State 2013.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge brought against him.

The Magistrate, Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.

She adjourned the case till April 11, 2018 for mention.
