A 30-year-old truck driver, Ibrahim Oladele, who allegedly drove his vehicle recklessly and knocked down a pedestrian, Emmanuel Ikuemehinto, was on Tuesday granted a bail of N250,000 on the terms of an Apapa Magistrates’ Court.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola, who gave the ruling, also granted the defendant two sureties in like sum.
Oladele, whose address is unknown, had pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of dangerous driving and manslaughter.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant drove recklessly and knocked down Ikuemehinto, who was walking along the road.
He said Oladele, who drove a truck with registration number: FKJ 450 XN, committed the offences at about 11:12 pm on February 28, 2018 at Ibafon Junction, Coconut along Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
The offences are punishable under Lagos State Traffic Law No 4, Vol. 45, (9)(1)(20), Laws of Lagos State Official Gazette 2012
The Magistrate adjourned the case to April 30, 2018 for Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) advice.
