A 29-year-old truck driver, Clement Oluwatobi, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging a mini-bus along Liverpool roundabout in Apapa.
Oluwatobi is facing a three-count charge of damage, accident and driving without particulars.
The prosecutor, Sergeant James Okosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on November 13, 2019 at about 10am along Liverpool roundabout, Apapa.
“The defendant being the driver in charge of one Mack trailer with registration number APP 927 XN drove the said vehicle on the public highway and caused damage to one Mercedes 207 mini-bus with registration number UWN 199 XT value yet unknown. Property of one Nworie Chinedu of Block 5, 71 Road, Festac Town.
“The defendant drove the said vehicle without licence, road worthiness, proof of ownership and certificate of insurance,” Okosun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 19 vol 45, 16 vol 45 and 25 vol 45 of the Lagos State Traffic Law 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Ganiyu Tiamiyu granted him N50,000 bail with one responsible surety in like sum.
The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till November 26, 2019 for trial.
