A 48-year-old truck driver, Shehu Musa and his motorboy, Musa Mohammed (35), were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a turck belonging to the Dangote Group at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.
The defendants are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 18, 2019 at about 1:47pm at the port.
“The defendants conspired together to steal Dangote Howo Truck with registration number WRW 174 XA,” Balogun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. Also, one of the sureties must be a community leader or clergy.
He adjourned the case till June 3, 2019 for mention.
