I came all the way from Sokoto to carry a container at the port since then I have been on this Apapa road for three (3) days now all because of the bad road. The government should come to the aid of the truck drivers because we are the ones suffering it the most and also the workers that have their offices on this axis. People leave their houses very early in the morning in order to get to work on time but spend so many hours on this particular road and get late to work. The road is causing so much havoc and even endangering our lives to armed robbers.

I have spent three days on this road just to get into the port all because the road is damaged. We are really suffering and it is really delaying our job. Policemen and the touts are disturbing us by asking for ridiculous fees which we do not know what we are paying for and the amount they extort from us starts from N3,000 and above. If we don’t pay the required fee, we can’t go into the port. Government should put an end to all this corruption going on around the port area and fixed the road.

I have been on this road for a day and the traffic on this road is getting worse every day. If the road is in good state, I should have gone into the port and pick up the container I am here for and it should have been delivered to the rightful owner but the reverse is the case. I know the government have the power to fix the road, so why the delay? Is it until the road collapse and kill people before they will repair it? Government should come to the aid of the masses.

If the government had fixed this road before now, it won’t be very bad as this. The Area ‘B’ Command Police men are extorting money from us anyhow and this is really affecting us.All the money we earn is collected from us. In a case where an officer stops a truck for an offence, the officer demands for N5,000 to N10,000before he can free the truck. I have spent two days on this road all because of the heavy traffic. The government should also stop the police officers from collecting money from us.

I have spent four days on this road just to enter into the port due to the bad road and is affecting we truck drivers going into the port to carry and drop containers, I have not taking care of myself for days now, though we go under the bridge to bath and defecate there. We are sleep in our various trucks and armed robbers attack us. This is a very bad experience for me, I am pleading to the government to repair the road as soon as possible. This road leading into the port is where this country generate a lot of money from, so why the delay in repairing it.

Three days stand still on this road, the traffic is causing a lot of problem for us. Armed robbers see this as a medium to attack us at midnight and collect all we have with us and kill some drivers in the process.Police officers also extort money from us. We have been pleading to the government to come to our aid but no response. All we want from them is to repair the road and let us enjoy free access into the port.

I always face so much traffic on this road and this is the third time of passing this road. I have spent three days on this road due to bad road and it is causing so much traffic. Police officers, touts and armed robbers collect money from us. We wake, eat and sleep in our truck. I have not had my bath nor brush my teeth for days all because there is no comfortable place to do that. I go under the bridge to defecate. The government should do something. I know we have the money in this country. They should come to our rescue by repairing this road for the safety of not just the truck drivers but also for citizens passing this route in order to earn a living.

The bad road has led to truck drivers spending three to four days on the road to get into the terminal. I pay N4,000 for different charges like policemen, touts and also pay inside the port. The government should use all this money they collect from us through different authorities to repair the road because this is where we earn to make a living.

The road is getting worse. Government should help us fix the road because we are going through a lot just to get into the port. We know where the shoe pinches than the so-called leaders, who sit in their offices and spend the money meant for citizens.

I have spent three days on this road and this is not good enough for the country. The roads are bad and if there is nothing done, the road might collapse and cause a lot of havoc to people’s lives. This road has caused a lot of accident and has damaged a lot of vehicles. Government should not be told before they do their job. I know it is something they know about. So, why is it taking so much time before they come to fix it?

Just to get to port to offload the container I am carrying, I have spent about four days on this road which is caused by the heavy traffic on the bad road. I buy food from hawkers. My bathing and stooling is done under the bridge. Police officers in this Area ‘B’ Command, touts and armed robbers collect money from us and some other belongings. Other security agencies collect different bribes from us at various points before getting into the port and even in the port. The government is capable of repairing this road, rather they chose not to. There was a time I heard Fashola and his team came to check it and since then, nothing has been done. Our leaders say things without acting on it.This is the time they need to fix the road because it has become an eyesore which is affecting everyone.

I have spent five days on the road due to the damaged road. I am wasting my precious time because this is delaying my job. Government are not helping us in anyway, all they do is promise and fail. We, the masses are the ones passing the road while the rich ones don’t.They don’t know what we go through every day on this road. They have to repair this road, whether they like it or not. The earlier it is done, the better the nation will become.

The government whether Federal or Lagos State are not been fair to citizens passing this road. The road needs repair and I am afraid it might collapse soon. Just to offload the container at the port, I have spent three days in the traffic. For this three days, no bathing and brushing of teeth. I eat and sleep in the truck on this same road. I don’t know how else they want us to appeal to them to repair the road.

This is the road the President needs to look into. I don’t know if is to be repaired by Federal or Lagos State but it is high time the road got fixed. We, truck drivers are suffering on this road. Police officers, touts and armed robbers collect money from us on daily basis. I have been sleeping in my truck for three days now due to the traffic caused by the bad road. This is not fair enough.
