Two men docked for stealing motorcycle

The police on Friday arraigned two men, Suleiman Ibrahim (28) and Hamzat Suleiman (22), before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Bajaj motorcycle at Maza-Maza, Lagos.

The duo is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on January 11, 2020 at about 6:15am at ‘F’ Show Monkey Village, Maza-Maza, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired together to steal one blue Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FKJ 735 QM valued at N195,000 property of one Shaibu Lawal,” Tedunjaye said.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate F.J Adefioye granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till February 12, 2020 for mention.
