Two people went missing following a collision between a Chinese general cargo vessel Guo Shun 21 and Vietnam’s Thanh Dat 01, which occurred in the evening hours of August 8 in the South China Sea, local media reported.
The Vietnamese ship, which was carrying 11 people, subsequently sank.
Nine people were rescued after the collision, while the ship’s Master and Second Engineer remain missing.
Vietnam’s search and rescue teams continued searching for the missing crewmembers.
At the time of the incident, Thanh Dat 01, which was loaded with 2700 tons of steel, was on its way from Vung Tau to Nghi Son, Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam.
The incident occurred off the coast of Vung Tau, Vietnam.
