Three truck drivers were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly committing traffic offences in Apapa.
The truck drivers are Sani Isah, Christian Odogwu and Dahiru Samaila. They are facing a three-count charge bordering on obstruction, driving without driver’s license and abandoning vehicle without a caution sign.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 26, 2017 along Kirikiri Road, Apapa.
“The defendants being the drivers in charge of Truck with registration numbers LED 441 MX, JJJ 123 XE and LKD 441 MX respectively drove same on the public highway and caused obstruction to other road users,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 40(1), 22 and 8(1) of the Road Traffic Law 2003.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate B.M Amore granted the defendants bail in the sum of N20,000 with one responsible surety each.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with three years tax payment to the Lagos State.
In addition, the sureties must be resident within Lagos State.
He adjourned the case till March 25, 2019 for mention.
