Four men namely, Uzoma Chukwuma (41), Kingsley Mgbejume (32), Joseph Orji (48) and Tochukwu Aniebona (29) have been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly having in their possession one pump action rifle at Five-Star Terminal Tin-Can Island Port.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offence on October 31, 2017 at Five-Star Terminal, Tin-Can Island Port.
Esebamen said the defendants had in their possession one pump action rife s/n 81416 which they could not give satisfactory account on how it came to their possession.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 411 and 330(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges bothering on conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearm.
The Chief Magistrate, A.O Awogboro granted the defendants bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till February 28, 2018 for mention.
In a separate development, a 58-year-old man, Babaginda Garba was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly threatening the life of one Inspector Mustapha Ibrahim, a police officer.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 25, 2017 at about 10am at Tin-Can Island Port, Apapa.
Esebamen said the defendant threatened the life one AP/NO 181892 Inspector Mustapha Ibrahim by words of mouth for telling him that he was going to send armed robber to kill him and that he was going to deal with him.
He added that the defendant was found to be in possession of men’s wears valued N48,000 and which he could not give satisfactory account of the items found in his possession.
According to him, the offence contravened Sections 56(1) (a) and 327(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges brought against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs Osho Adebiyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.
She adjourned the case till February 21, 2018 for mention.
