The Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) is set to deregister its member associations that failed to meet its deadline to pay their annual subscription fees, SHIPS & PORTS DAILY can authoritatively report.
SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered that, out of the five CRFFN-accredited associations, only the duo of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) and the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) met the deadline of August 30, 2013, to pay up their annual subscription fees.
It was learnt that ANLCA, as the oldest association, paid N1.3million, while NAGAFF paid N950, 000.
The trio of the National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC), the National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA) and the Association of Registered Freight Forwarders, Nigeria (AREFFN) were, however, unable to meet up to the financial requirement and may be deregistered.
It would be recalled that the duo of ANLCA and NAGAFF had earlier, in separate statements, called for the deregistration of the last three accredited associations, asserting that they were not qualified to be listed in the register of the Council.
While ANLCA had posited that the three associations were accredited by default, NAGAFF had asserted that they do not have the capacity to run as freight forwarding associations.
