Clearing agent sues man over phone theft

A 22-year-old man, Daniel Okey was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a phone belonging to a clearing agent, Toeeb Isiaka.

Okey is facing a two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 28, 2018 at about 7:37am at Mile 2 Bus Stop, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Tecno Phone valued at N20,000 property of Toeeb Isiaka,”Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.

The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till August 30, 2018 for mention.
