The Controller of Tin-Can Island Port 2 Customs Command, Alhaji Abdulkadir Dalhatu, has urged Nigerians to embrace the business of exportation in order to boost foreign exchange inflow into the country.

Dalhatu gave the advice in an interview in Lagos on Friday.

He said the forex scarcity occasioned by the fall in the price of crude oil had made it necessary for Nigerians to produce more for the international market.

“The country is facing some economic challenges caused by forex scarcity due to oil price crash.

“What this means is that, to correct the deficit, we need to export more to earn more forex.

“There are so many things that we produce here that are begging for patronage in the international market.

“So this is the time to embrace exportation and improve the fortunes of the country’’.

The controller also urged Nigerians to patronise Made-in-Nigeria products and services to reduce the pressure on the naira.

Dalhatu said the command was putting in place structures to make exportation friendly, urging exporters to make use of its platform for their business.

He said the fortunes of the command had improved tremendously as a result of the various reforms implemented therein in the last 11 months.
