Ethiopian Airlines begin flights to Chengdu

Ethiopian Airlines is to commence scheduled flight services thrice a week to Kaduna in North Western Nigeria from Aug. 1.

The airline made the announcement in a statement signed by its Group Chief Executive Officer,  Tewolde GebreMariam, in Lagos on Thursday.

GebreMariam said the airline would operate the flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

“We are pleased to commence scheduled operations to Kaduna, our fifth city in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“As a Pan-African airline, serving our beloved continent, Africa has always been a source of pride for Ethiopian Airlines.

“With this commitment, Ethiopian has been able to create a missing link, availing easy movement of Africans from one corner to the other.

“During the temporary closure of Abuja Airport for reconstruction four months ago, we were the first foreign carrier to land at Kaduna Airport, allowing our passengers to experience ultimate comfort on-board our B-787 Dreamliner.”

According to him, the move is in line with the airline’s long-term strategic roadmap, Vision 2025, expanding and availing a more efficient intra-African network.

GebreMariam assured that the airlines would keep playing positive roles in catalysing the socio-economic development of Africa.

With the addition of Kaduna, Ethiopian Airlines would be operating 23 weekly flights to Nigeria’s main cities namely, Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Kano.

Ethiopian Airlines is currently rated as Africa’s largest carrier.
