Five docked for stealing Dangote unrefined salt

Four women and a man were Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court 2 for allegedly stealing 7 bags of unrefined salt belonging to Dangote Group.

The four women were identified as Mudijat Sulaiman, Idowu Idowu, Misratu Saka and Tosin Samuel while the man is Yinusa Oba.

They pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecuting counsel, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 12, 2017 at about 6:10am at NIMASA Junction, Apapa.

He added that they stole 7 bags of unrefined salt valued at N24,000 property of Dangote Group.

He stated that the offences contravened sections 409 and 285(1) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs Osho-Adebiyi granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each.

The case was adjourned till July 25, 2017 for trial.

In a similar development, a man identified as Saheed Adekeye is facing trial before Apapa Magistrates’ Court 5 over alleged stealing of salt from the Dangote Group in Apapa.

During the cross-examination, Inspector Rotimi Agboola told the court that the accused stole four bags of Dangote salt worth N150, 000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecuting counsel had earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January 28, 2017 at about 5:30am at Eleganza roundabout, Apapa.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O Adegite adjourned the case till June 28, 2017 for continuation of trial.
