Five men allegedly steal N170,000 iron cable at KLT

Five men were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing iron able worth N170,000 at the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT0, Lagos.

The men are Edwin Akibor (48), Isah Sabitu (36), Ogunwale Temitope (30), David Michael (45) and God’swill Uche (24). They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on November 6, 2019.

“The defendants conspired together to steal one 100 metre iron cable valued at N170,000 property of Hensmor Company Limited,” Esebamen said.

The offences, the prosecutor said, are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. Magistrate Ramot Ayilara granted them bail in the sum of N30,000 bail each with one surety in like sum. Each surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till December 10, 2019 for mention.
