An importer on Tuesday dragged a clearing agent before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing six deep freezers, 10 new microwaves and other items at Tin Can, Apapa.
The clearing agent, Edward Ojonimi Okon, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 19, 2019 at about 2pm at Tin Can, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal six deep freezers, 10 new microwaves, 8 bicycles, 11 electronic irons, 15 DVDs and one sewing machine whose values are yet unknown properties of one Andrew Onomrobs,” Balogun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under section 411 and 285(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate A.S Okubule granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties must be a relative to the defendant.
She adjourned the matter till July 31, 2019 for mention.
