A 25-year-old man, identified as Mujeeb Anyanjimi, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Bajaj motorcycle, phones and cash in Lagos.
Anyanjimi is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, dangerous weapons, burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 23, 2019 at about 10:30pm at Amosun Street, Maza-Maza, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired with others at large to unlawfully attack group of people with cutlasses, bottles, and other dangerous weapons with intent to steal.
“They broke and enter into shops and stole the following items: one unregistered Bajaj motorcycle valued at N230,000 property of one Abdullahi Mohammed, one Tecno Spark 7 valued at N49,000, one Itel valued at N23,000, Tecno P5 valued at N15,000, Itel 3310 valued at N4,500 and cash sum of N7,000 properties of one Abdulsalam Fathia, one wrist watch valued at N3,500 and cash of N20,000 properties of Magdalene William and cash sum of N200,000 property of Jacinto Ogbu,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 406, 306 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted him N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till November 25, 2019 for mention.
