The police on Friday arraigned two men before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 300 decoders at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa.
The men are Okoye Elochukwu (31) and Okiyi Chuks (30). They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in September 2019 at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired with others at large to steal 300 pieces of Digital Terrestrial Decoders (Gotv) packed in 720 cartons, content of a 40-foot container number CMAU5300494,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 (5b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted them N1 million bail with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till November 21, 2019 for mention.
