Man allegedly steals N850,000 shuttle bus

A 42-year-old man, identified as Godwin Irikfe, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a shuttle bus worth N850,000 in Lagos.

Irikfe is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 6, 2019 at about 9pm at Agboju Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired with one other at large to jointly steal a shuttle bus with the registration number LSD 634 XX valued at N850,000 property of one Adeyomi Okelele,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate L.O Kazeem granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till October 23, 2019 for mention.
