Man allegedly steals phone, N.3m cash

A 29-year-old man, Tola Shenkale, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing Tecno phone and the sum of N300,000 in Apapa.

Shenkale is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 12, 2019 at about 9pm at Kirikiri Estate, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal one Tecno phone valued at N15,000 and the sum of N300,000 properties of one Ujunwa Jennifer Udoye,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Ayisha Grillo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. The surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till March 2, 2020 for mention.
