Diesel marketer allegedly steals N5m in Apapa

A 29-year-old diesel marketer, Idoko Ernest, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N5, 187,000 as proceeds from the sale of diesel in Apapa.

Ernest is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Fred Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between December 17, 2018 and July 30, 2019 at No 2, Olofi Street, Apapa.

“The defendant stole the sum of N5,187,000 property of one Udaya Nzeakor,” Asu said.

According to him, the offence is contrary to section 280 (1) (a & b) and punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate M.O Olubi granted him N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till October 7, 2019 for mention.
