A 27-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Sodiq was on Thursday, arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing armoured cables valued at N300,000 belonging to Dangote Flour Mills.
Sodiq is facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 25, 2018 at about 8:30am at Terminal E of Lags Port Complex, Apapa, operated by Greenview Development Nigeria Limited, which is owned by the Dangote Group.
“The defendant conspired with others at large to steal armoured cables valued at N300,000 property of Dangote Flour Mills,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 (5)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate O. S Aboiye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety.
The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till September 11, 2018 for mention.
