A 30-year-old man identified as Chinedu Micheal was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N700,000 in Apapa.

Micheal is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 28, 2019 at about 12pm at No 6, Makanjuola Street, Amukoko, Apapa.

“The defendant stole one tricycle popularly known as “Keke Maruwa” with registration number FKJ 488 QG valued at N700,000 property of one Micheal Uzochukwu,” Ekundayo said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Ramotalai Morafa granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till August 15, 2019 for mention.
