A 23-year-old man, identified as Ojewole Temitope, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Inifinix camera phone valued at N85,000 in Lagos.
Temitope is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault and threat to kill.
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 10, 2019 at about 7:35pm at Casco Street, Kuje-Amuwo, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one Infinix camera phone valued at N85,000 property of one Ndubisi Ikechukwu,” Babatope said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant assaulted Ikechukwu by using a plank to him on his face which caused him bodily harm and also threatened to eliminate his (Ikechukwu’s) life with the plank.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287, 173 and 56 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him.
Magistrate Olukayode Kadiri granted him in the sum of N100,000 with two reliable sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till July 24, 2019 for mention.
