Man docked in Apapa for phone, cash theft

A 22-year-old man, Sunday Ayeolowo, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Samsung Galaxy phone and cash at Olodi-Apapa.

Ayeolowo is facing a one-count charge of stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Inspector James Okosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 24, 2020 at about 11am at Maracana Field, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully stole one Samsung Galaxy JB phone valued at N45,000 and the sum of N20,000 property of one Omogunle Jephtham,” Okosun said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate G.O Tiamiyu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till March 18, 2020 for mention.
