A 24-year-old man, Ibrahim Abubakar, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing an exporter’s household items at Satellite Town in Lagos.
Abubakar is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on 1st and 4th of March, 2020 at about 10am at Close 10, House 13, Satellite Town, Lagos.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal the following items; Two LG plasma television valued at N130,000, Generator valued at N60,000, One split air-conditioner valued at N25,000, Electric kettle valued at N21,000, Two pair of lace materials valued at N15,000, Jordan trainer shoes valued at N10,000 and one oven valued at 4,000. Total value of item stolen N265,000 properties of one Opeyemi Muyiwa,” Babatope said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate R.E Ojudun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till March 24, 2020 for mention.
