Teenager steals N100,000 truck tyres at Kirikiri

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port
An eighteen-year-old man, Maduka Meshack, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing truck tyres worth N100,000 at Kirikiri.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 8, 2018 at about 11pm at Navy campsite, Kirikiri.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal truck tyres valued at N100,000 property of one Sammy Itchi,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The surety, according to the Magistrate must be a blood relation to the defendant, gainfully employed and must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till January 16, 2019 for mention.
