Man in court for unlawful possession of phones in Apapa

A 20-year-old man, Musibau Rasaki, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly possessing different brands of phones unlawfully in Apapa.

Rasaki is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 23, 2019 at about 5am at Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant conspired with others at large to unlawfully possess the following valuables: one iPhone, two android Tecno phones, one android Itel phone, one Nokia phone, one e-focus power bank and e-charger and could not give satisfactory account,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are contrary and punishable under sections 411 and 329 (1)(a)(c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a community leader.

He adjourned the case till January 17, 2019 for mention.
