Man pleads guilty to car battery theft

A 34-year-old man, identified as Rasheed Sadiku, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one car battery and vehicle catalyst at Freedom Park.

Sadiku is facing a one-count charge bordering on stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 9, 2018 at about 8:30am at Freedom Park, Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Kirikiri.

“The defendant stole one car battery valued at N30,000 and vehicle catalyst valued at N25,000. The total value of items stolen is N55,000, property of one Gabriel Okechukwu,” Obongha said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State Government 2015.

The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate K. A Ariyo adjourned the matter till October 11, 2018 for facts and sentence.
