A 27-year-old man, Harrison Onwo, who was arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, pleaded guilty to stealing one truck jack and two wheel spanners at Lagos Ports Complex, Apapa.
Onwo was arraigned on a two-count charge of entering the port without a Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) pass and stealing.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 1, 2020 at about 5:40am at NPA premises along APMT Road.
“The defendant entered the Apapa Quays without NPA ticket and stole one truck jack valued at N20,000 and two wheel spanners valued at N5,000 property of one Clement Bassey,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 398 and 287 (5b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Aisha Shittabey ordered the defendant to be remanded at the Correctional Service until January 7, 2020 for facts and sentence.
