Man pleads guilty to threatening female police officer

A 32-year-old man, identified as Onyeka Okhabe, pleaded guilty when he was charged before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on Monday for allegedly threatening to kill a female police Inspector in Apapa, Lagos. 

Okhabe pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of threatening to kill.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 15, 2019 at about 10pm along Sunrise Bridge in Apapa.

“The defendant did abuse police office that she is stupid and also threaten to kill one woman inspector, Japari Ishaya, while on duty and resisted arrest,” Balogun said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 117, 56 and 174 (a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Enitan Ojodun adjourned the case till October 8, 2019 for facts and sentence.
