A man identified as Chinedu Iheakaram was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing a truck manager in a hotel in Lagos. Iheakaram is facing a three-count charge of assault and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 24, 2018 at about 9pm at No 304 Premier Hotel, Old Ojo Road, Satellite, Lagos.
“The defendant attacked one Faith Adamson with a dagger and collected her iPhone valued at N150,000,” Ekpo said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant stole one iPhone in the room of one Faith Adamson and stabbed her with a dagger on the right side of her stomach, which caused her grievous harm.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 297, 285 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He ordered that N100,000 be deposited into the Chief Registrar’s account and adjourned the case till January 23, 2019 for mention.
