A 24-year-old man, identified as Godsent Omoluku, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N600,000 galvanized steel at Apapa port.
Omoluku is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 16, 2019 at about 10:19am at ENL Terminal, Apapa Port.
“The defendant stole six pieces of step case galvanized steel valued at N600,000 property of ENL Company,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 (5)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties should be a blood relative to the defendant.
She adjourned the case till September 19, 2019 for mention.
