Centre for Marine Surveyors Nigeria has said that inland water transportation if given necessary support will reduce cost of transportation and create employment opportunity for Nigerians.

Officials of the centre led by Ademola Mumnney stated this when they paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) in Lagos recently.

According to them, opening of water transportation is the change that the country is throwing away, adding that there is need for diversification to another mode of transportation to address the present challenges facing the country.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Hassan Bello assured the group that the agency was ready to meet with their aspiration in projecting water transportation as an alternative mode of transportation.

He commended the efforts of the group in instilling professionalism among members emphasising that the industry cannot do without marine surveyors.
