Maritime Police Command’s AIG retires after 32 years of service

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Marine Command, Adeyinka Sodipo on Wednesday retired after 32 years in service and upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 years.

During the pull-out parade at Nigeria Police Force zone     headquarters in Lagos on Wednesday, Sodipo said, “Today is a memorable day for me as it marks my 60th birthday and meritorious exit from this noble profession.

“When I took the decision to join the Nigeria Police over 32 years ago, I never thought that one day, I would be giving this speech, in this same place, where my service, alongside 120 others took-off; and this time, in my capacity as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.”

He advised all officers to be focussed, disciplined, loyal and dedicated to their duties.

“I enjoin you all to shun corrupt tendencies and above all have the fear of God in all you do. So that, you can accomplish all you set your mind to achieve.

“To the junior ones, strive to uphold the high standard of discipline and loyalty for which the Police is known,” he said. “The Nigeria Police will continue to be better and I wish each and everyone of you a happy and fulfilled career. Thank you all good people for everything, I shall miss you.”

AIG Adeyinka Kolawole Sodipo joined the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in December 1984, after obtaining a B.A (Hons) Degree in History, from the University of Lagos.

As a young officer, he served in the old Bendel State under the Police Mobile Force. He also served at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Alagbon; Kam Selem House Obalende and Force Headquarters, Abuja.

While in service, excellence and good conduct earned him the Inspector-General of Police’s commendation in 1988, 1996 and 2014.
