The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has been thrown into mourning following news of the sudden death of its Secretary General, Comrade Aham Ubani.
President, Dockworkers Branch of the union, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju who confirmed his demise to SHIPS & PORTS DAILY, said Ubani died Monday afternoon “after a brief illness”.
Adeyanju who expressed shock over the death of Ubani said they were together during the weekend and the deceased did not show any sign of ill health.
“It is God that can determine somebody’s end. It is so sad because we were together on Saturday with a unit and district officers. He was looking healthy and nobody suspected this kind of thing would happen. It is so sad but we cannot query God,” he said.
He said his corpse has been taken to Umuhia in Abia State from where the deceased hailed.
Adeyanju described the late Ubani as “an easy going man who hates violence and a wonderful person to be with”.
