Two marketers namely Olarenwaju Lukmon and Mustapha Musuliu were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N12 million under false pretense to supply diesel at Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
Lukmon and Musuliu are facing a five-count charge of conspiracy, false pretense, fraud and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on October 22, 2018 at about 5:30pm at Techno Depot, Kirikiri Town, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together with others at large to obtaining money under false pretense,” Bassey said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants fraudulently obtained the sum of N7,742,000 from one Odebola James Adeola with the pretense to give him 33,000 litres of AGO products which they know to be false.
Bassey added that the defendants fraudulently obtained the sum of N4,720,000 from one Abdul Adeyemi Kayode with the pretense to give him 20,000 litres of AGO products which they know to be false.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendants however pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate, O. A Erinle granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till November 26, 2018 for mention.
