The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Gabriel Olonisakin has said the Navy Admiralty printing press would strengthen the security of the process of producing classified documents. He made this known on Wednesday when he commissioned the Admiralty Printing Press of the Nigerian Navy in Abuja.
He also said military materials required for operations and training in the Navy would be protected and obtained in a cost effective and timely manner.
He noted that the commercial prospects from the services the printing press would provide the public is an example of great corporate social responsibility.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas said the Admiralty Printing Press was set up following years of reduced defence spending and the compelling need for the navy to look inwards.
He said, “Consequently, the Nigerian Navy took steps to construct this edifice to cater for publishing and printing of her documents and other written materials.”
He said the press can undertake diverse printing jobs including magazines, books, labels, advertising brochures, catalogues and newspaper inserts.
